Dear Residents and Families:
We wanted to provide you a new update on what is currently going on related to COVID in our Community.
We continue to have new residents and staff testing positive in our periodic mass testing for the virus. All positive residents remain in the building, isolated and receiving treatment from dedicated staff and with heightened infection control procedure, and staff are quarantining at home.
Any new residents that test positive are immediately notified when results are received along with their responsible party/designated family member and primary healthcare provider to discuss next steps. We are also keeping these contacts informed of the health status of any resident who previously tested positive for the virus.
Given this and the number of positive cases in the surrounding county, we will continue to restrict all visitation with the exception of compassionate/end-of-life visits and visits by essential healthcare providers. We can facilitate virtual online visits. If you or your loved one need assistance in setting such a visit up, please contact us.
We continue to strongly encourage residents (and urge families to encourage residents) to take all precautions to prevent or mitigate the spread of the virus by:
- Limiting time in the building common spaces or not traveling off of Sherwood’s campus if at all possible, and staff can assist in obtaining any necessary items or performing any needed tasks;
- Wearing masks when outside of their apartments;
- Engaging in good hand hygiene; and
- Practicing social distancing when outside of their apartments.
We will continue our mass testing and general updates on our mass testing on a periodic basis. We also continue to monitor residents for any change in condition.
We are awaiting final details on the vaccination clinics, and we will notify you with more information once we have it. Please remember that benefits from the vaccine will not be experienced until some time after the second vaccination which will occur at least 21 – 28 days after the first vaccine, but we are excited for this to roll out to our residents and staff in the coming weeks.
As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns.
